TULIP TIME PRESENTS PETAL POPS 2008 - HOLLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA INTRODUCING NEW MUSIC DIRECTOR AND SPECIAL GUESTS THE HALL STREET SIX AND GRAMER FAMILY.
HOLLAND, MI – Wednesday, May 30, 2007 Tulip Time is pleased to announce the 7th annual Petal Pops concert to be held at Windmill Island on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 7:30pm. Enjoy “Sounds of the Big Band Era”, from the Holland Symphony Orchestra with new Music Director and Conductor Johannes Müller-Stosch and special guests The Hall Street Six and the Gramer family. Musical arrangements written by Joe Hasper in Oklahoma. Come out early and enjoy the picturesque beauty of the Island, and picnic with family and friends. Sit inside the pavilion at one of our VIP catered tables, or bring your own food and chair and enjoy the concert on the plush lawn of Windmill Island. Either way you are guaranteed an outstanding evening in a relaxing atmosphere, all while listening to the engaging sounds of the Holland Symphony.
This year marks the first Petal Pops performance for Johannes Müller-Stosch. German-born Müller-Stosch has also been appointed Director of Orchestral Studies and Assistant Professor of Conducting at California State University, Long Beach. Mr. Müller-Stosch is finishing his Doctoral work at the Eastman School of Music where he served as Assistant Conductor of the famed Eastman Philharmonia Orchestra. He has held conducting positions with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Brockport Symphony (New York), Tri State Players (Ohio), and served repeatedly on the conducting and coaching staff at the Opera Theatre Festival in Lucca, Italy. A concert tour with the Eastman String Orchestra brought Müller-Stosch to Japan where he conducted concerts as part of Hiroshima’s 2006 Peace Festival. He received much acclaim for his doctoral project and concert with the Eastman Philharmonia, which surveyed all four symphonies by early 20th century Viennese composer Franz Schmidt. Concert tours have taken him throughout Germany, Italy, Chile and Japan. Müller-Stosch has several commercial recordings to his credit. His most recent CD celebrating the renovation of Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church’s Casavant Frères organ (Rochester, NY) has been featured on NPR’s With Heart and Voice.
The Hall Street Six has performed at many of the most talked about events in Grand Rapids and the lakeshore area. Performing together with the Gramer’s who have had over 65 years of collective performance experience. Gary, Ellie and Cici Gramer are among the most in-demand vocalists in West Michigan. Together with the band they present an evening of entertainment and excitement that will keep you swinging all night long.
Ticket prices are $15.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors (62 and over), $5.00 for children (5-12), and $35.00 for families (includes 2 adults and up to 4 children). VIP table seating for parties of 8 is $350. New this year is the option to purchase individual VIP seating for $45 each. All VIP seating is limited and should be reserved by June 18, 2007. VIP tables include admission, premium seating, gourmet boxed meals and beverages all at a beautifully arranged table.
Tickets are now on sale at the Tulip Time Festival office located at 171 Lincoln Avenue, Holland, MI, or online at www.tuliptime.com. Phone orders will be accepted by calling 616-396-4221 or 800-822.2770. Office hours are 9am – 3pm Monday through Thursday, closed Fridays. Tickets may also be purchased through the Holland Symphony Orchestra. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs if not purchasing a catered table.
This event will take place rain or shine as it is held under an open-air 4,500 square-foot pavilion located in the center of the Island. All tickets are non-refundable. Beer and wine will be available for purchase with valid i.d. Guests are asked not to bring their own alcoholic beverages. City policy does not permit individuals to bring their own alcoholic beverages onto Windmill Island.
